FiveM’s built-in chat is functional the same way a plain text file is functional — it works, but it communicates nothing about the kind of server players are on. CodeM Chat replaces it with a purpose-built interface that separates OOC, roleplay actions, department channels, and announcements into distinct typed lanes, so players immediately understand what kind of message they’re reading without guessing from context.

Ten Channel Types in One Interface

The script ships with ten pre-built chat types, each carrying its own colour coding, logo, and tag. In-character speech, /me actions, /do descriptions, OOC brackets, department radio channels, server announcements, and Twitter/X app posts all render as distinct message categories rather than running together in a single undifferentiated feed. The reply system threads responses to specific messages, which matters in active channels where multiple conversations overlap.

Key Features

  • 10 distinct chat channel types with individual colour coding and logos
  • Reply system for threaded responses to specific messages
  • Coloured player names and chat-type tags for at-a-glance identification
  • Futuristic UI with curved design elements and responsive layout
  • In-game Twitter/X post display integrated into the chat feed
  • Fully configurable channel types, logos, and tag labels
  • Open-source purchase option allows modification of logos and UI elements
  • ESX and QBCore framework support
  • Idle resource usage: 0.0–0.2ms; active usage: 0.5–0.7ms
  • Compatible with other CodeM resources (Venice HUD, notifications, market systems)

Open Source Option

Two versions are available: standard escrow and open source. The open-source version gives you full access to modify channel logos, adjust the UI layout, and add custom channel types beyond the ten defaults. If your server runs a faction system with custom departments, you can create matching channels rather than re-labelling defaults.

Performance

At 0.0–0.2ms idle and 0.5–0.7ms during active chat use, CodeM Chat adds negligible load. It’s installed after your framework in server.cfg and requires no SQL import for basic operation — chat logging can be added through the config if your server tracks in-game communications.

Who This Is For

Any FiveM server still running the default chat in 2026 is missing a simple quality-of-life win that players notice immediately. CodeM Chat is particularly strong on life-RP servers where separating IC speech from OOC, /me, and department radio is essential to keeping sessions immersive rather than chaotic.
